GISBORNE GARAGISTE WINE COMPANY ST LAURENT 2015
St Laurent is a red grape variety widely grown in Austria and the Czech Republic. Pinot Noir is one of it's parents and the grapes produce wines that
are dark and fruity with a velvety mouthfeel and subtle tannins
This wine was made using hand - picked grapes from a premium block in the Ormond region of Gisborne. The open canopy
coupled with the warmth of this sub region block has ensured optimal ripening
and full expression of varietal
character.
HARVEST DETAILS
The grapes were hand harvested in optimum condition with
ripe flavours on the 27th March
2015.

WINEMAKING NOTES
Following harvest the grapes were destemmed to an open top
fermenter. They were then fermented in the traditional manner using
punch down to gently extract colour and tannin with a maceration period of 14 days on skins. Following draining and
pressing the wine was aged for 6 months
in barrel . After racking from barrel
the wine was fined and lightly filtered
before bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Made in a fruit forward style
this wine is darkly coloured with the nose showing aromas of black plum,
cassis, spice and savoury, smoky oak.
Bright juicy berry flavours are apparent on the palate with soft,
velvety tannins and a long savoury
finish.

FOOD MATCH
St. Laurent goes with a wide array of most meats, including wild
game, comfort foods and any meat that is rich with fat and flavour profiles.
It also
makes a good match with strongly flavoured cheeses.
